The Denver Broncos versus the Seattle Seahawks.
Instead of going through every storyline in long form, here's a list of them:
1) The number one offense versus the number one defense.
2) The young gun versus the seasoned veteran; new school versus old school; Russell Wilson versus Peyton Maning.
3) Peyton Manning goes for his second Super Bowl title - currently he's 1-1. A victory would put his Super Bowl and postseason records above .500 (2-1 and 12-11).
4) Peyton Manning is playing in his brother's home stadium.
5) The Seahawks are making their second Super Bowl appearance and are currently 0-1 in Super Bowls (lost to Pittsburgh in 2006).
6) Broncos head coach John Fox goes for his first Super Bowl title - he's currently 0-1 in Super Bowls (lost to the Patriots with the Panthers in 2004).
7) Russell Wilson would be the second starting quarterback in a Super Bowl to win in his second season in the NFL.
8) Quarterbacks that lead the league in passing yards and passing touchdowns in the regular season the same year they played in a Super Bowl and 0-3 in the big game (Dan Marino, Tom Brady, and Kurt Warner).
9) The Seattle Seahawks have zero players with Super Bowl experience.
10) If Peyton Manning wins the Super Bowl, it will be the greatest single season (regular and post combined) ever by a player, not just a quarterback. Manning had 55 touchdowns, 5,477 passing yards, a 115.1 passer rating in the regular season, and won the league's MVP award and Offensive Player of the Year award. He might be able to add a Super Bowl ring to that collection of accomplishments.
Denver Broncos 28 - 24 Seattle Seahawks
I believe the Broncos are the team of destiny. When I told one of more friends this, he responded, "How could they be the team of destiny? They went 13-3 and were very good, they can't be the team of destiny."
Oh really?
To be the team of destiny means that you are destined to go to the Super Bowl, and possibly even destined to win it all. Why are they the team of destiny? Because it is Peyton Manning's year. All of the ups and downs, shortcomings in the the playoffs, criticism of him not being able to perform in the playoffs (which is a load of B.S.), is what makes it his time to win this game and push himself past the other all-time greats at the quarterback position. This one isn't for John (Elway), "This one's for Peyton!"
Now to the tangible reasons why I feel the Broncos will win.
The Seahawks may have by far the best defense in the league, but they won't be able to handle all of the Broncos weapons. Receivers Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker, Eric Decker, TE Julius Thomas and RB Knowshon Moreno are all way too much for the Seahawks. Richard Sherman can't cover them all. Given that, the Seahawks won't be able to keep up with Denver's offense. The Broncos match up well with Seattle because of their strong defense, and the Seahawks heavy reliance on their run game, specifically Marshawn Lynch. Russell Wilson and the Seahawks passing game aren't explosive and talented enough to make up for a run game that may be quieted by the Broncos defense. It won't be a blow out, but I chose the Broncos to pull ahead. Peyton, I believe you will receive your second Super Bowl ring today.
